29th Derby Triathlon – in line with Event Guidance provided by the BTF for COVID measures
DERBY TRIATHLON is aimed at all levels of fitness and ability, whether it’s your first triathlon or you are the next Olympic hopeful. Last year we had an increase in first time competitors, with 55% of the field being new to the great fun sport of triathlon.
You can enter as an individual and complete all three disciplines on your own, the relay event with friends or colleagues and enjoy the race as a team or the corporate event where each team member completes the full triathlon.

COVID-19 Updated information
Following discussions at Etwall Leisure Centre and the recent announcement from British Triathlon Federation, we are delighted to announce we are still proceeding with the 29th Derby Triathlon on Sunday 13th September 2020.
The event will look and feel different to previous years but our priority is to provide a competitive race, whilst ensuring the highest health and safety measure are implemented to comply with Covid-19 event guidelines stipulated by British Triathlon:
We will have a capped field of just 300 – there are plenty of space left but these are likely to be taken in a few weeks so don’t delay and enter here (https://www.stuweb.co.uk/events/2020/09/13/3724/)
You will need to complete a health questionnaire online in the days leading upto the event for competitors and spectators (we actively discourage spectators) and we will be limiting only 1 spectator per competitor. Competitors/Spectators will only be allowed onto site if the questionnaire has been completed beforehand.
Please observe social distancing and do not gather at any potential congested points (Registration, pool, Bike security & finish area) and we will be operating a one-way system around the site.
Registration will be located in the PMA tent next to the Leisure centre, which will be easily identifiable once you enter the grounds. You will be provided with a registration time slot. Please ensure you maintain 1 metre social distance and a mandatory face coverings.
There will be no entries on the day.
There will be no race briefings on the day. with all the information being provided in the pre-race details and video approx. 7 days ahead of the event.
Given the lack of access to pool swimming we have decided to reduce the swim to 300M (12 lengths) and start times will still be based on your estimated 400M time with the slowest swimmers off first and the fastest last. The swim will be on a time-trial basis with competitors starting in 30 second intervals using the snake styled swim with 2 lengths starting in Lane 1 before completing 2 lengths in lane 2 and exiting in lane 6.
There will be no access to the changing rooms or viewing areas inside the leisure centre and there will be a one way queuing system deployed in 2m points from the inside of the pool to outside the rear fire exit. The queue will be limited to 20 athletes so you will need to arrive pool ready, 10 minutes before your race start.
No changing/shower facilities will be available on the day but toilets will be in use as well as additional portaloos.
There will be a significant amount of racking and will be limited to 4 bikes per pole (these will not be numbered) and you will be advised of where to rack by our transition team.
There will be no changes to the bike course – https://pma-racing.co.uk/derby-sprint-triathlon/derby-sprint-triathlon-bike-course/
There will be no changes to the run course – https://pma-racing.co.uk/derby-sprint-triathlon/derby-sprint-triathlon-run-course/
There will be a self serve drink station with pre-poured drinks. (only the Finish Area team can fill the cups)
Competitors must remove the timing chip themselves and then leave the finish area as soon as possible after crossing the finish line.
There will be no chip timing print outs available
Individual results will be sent by SMS text message and a full set of results will be provided on the PMA website later that evening.

The first member swims 300m and runs out to tag the cyclist who then continues on the 18k bike, on their return the cyclist tags the runner who goes on to complete the 5k run to finish the event.

The event will be held under the rules of the British Triathlon Federation. As always, your bicycle must be in roadworthy condition and an approved cycle helmet must be worn. A BTF referee will be present throughout the day.
Race information and competitor start times will be available on the website 1 week before the event. Any queries relating to the event please contact us.
